I decided to take a vacation\/work trip to Southern California and go to the Open Source Summit North America<\/a> conference. I was surprised by how networking (as in meeting other people) friendly it was. They encouraged the use of an app that allowed for an easy set up of 15 min meetings at designated tables. I used it a few times and met some wonderful and interesting people. They also had a lunch for women to connect with one another that I attended. In addition, I volunteered at the Free Software Foundation Booth so I got to speak with a whole host of people about free and open source software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/br>\n\n\n\n

I mostly attended workshops over the talks (which I figured I could find online later). Some of the workshops I attended were about Linux Containers, Docker, and Kubernetes. I liked that they built on one another. I especially enjoyed the Kubernetes workshop<\/a> since their presentation<\/a> walked you through how to set it up plus had cute graphics which gave us a clear understanding on what is happening on the backend. They also incorporated commands which wouldn’t work on purpose to help us understand what was and was not connected at given moments. After a couple of hours of setting it up and getting everything to work:<\/p>\n\n\n
