Speaker at Libreplanet 2020!

I was honored to be invited to speak at this year’s Libreplanet. Libreplanet is a conference I’ve attended in the past and have been following for some time. In their words, “LibrePlanet provides an opportunity for community activists, domain experts, and people seeking solutions for themselves to come together in order to discuss current issues in technology and ethics. “

I was pushed to want to speak out about my experiences in China/Hong Kong, especially after visiting this last October during the protests and the anniversary of the PRC. Part of my talk was created in part in collaboration with Matthew Facciani a postdoctoral researcher at Vanderbilt University. Our collaboration was around the cognitive biases and identity when it comes to speaking about divisive topics and how to approach people. Slides from my talk can be found here.
