Hey there, language learners and game enthusiasts! I’ve got something to share with you today. As a kid, I absolutely adored playing Loteria with my family and friends. For those who don’t know, Loteria is like the Mexican version of bingo, but instead of numbers, you’ve got these colorful cards with beautiful images and Spanish words. It’s a blast to play and a sneaky way to learn some Spanish along the way!
A Trip Down Memory Lane
Picture this: little me, sitting around a table with mis padres and hermanas, eagerly waiting for my turn to shout “¡Loteria!” as I marked off the last image on my board. The anticipation, the laughter, the playful competition – it was all so magical. And let’s not forget the delicious snacks that always seemed to accompany our Loteria nights!
As I grew older, I realized that Loteria wasn’t just a fun game; it was also a fun tool for learning Spanish. Each card had a unique image and its corresponding Spanish name, making it easy to associate words with visual representations. Without even realizing it, I was expanding my vocabulary and improving my pronunciation.
Bringing Loteria to the Digital Age
Fast forward to today, and I’ve decided to bring the joy of Loteria to a new generation of language learners. The Loteria Generator – a web-based tool that lets you create custom Loteria boards with the click of a button!
For the images, I leveraged AI to generate all the images for the cards. I used ComfyUI with stable diffusion running on my machine, but this could also be generated with other tools out there.
How It Works
You can input words and images to go along with it. Then, you can generate randomized 4×4 boards (3 at a time), ready to be printed on regular 8.5×11 inch paper. It’s perfect for Spanish teachers who want to create themed boards for their lessons or for language learners who want to customize their game to focus on specific vocabulary.
Let’s Play!
I’ve been having an absolute blast playing Loteria with the boards I’ve created using the generator. It’s like reliving my childhood memories but with a modern twist.

I’m so excited to share this project with all of you. Whether you’re a seasoned Spanish speaker or just starting your language learning journey, the Loteria Generator is here to make the experience more engaging and enjoyable.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, print out some boards, and get ready to shout “¡Loteria!” at the top of your lungs. Let’s spread the love for this amazing game and create some unforgettable memories along the way. Here is the link to the source code.
